A veterinarian. A firefighter. An astronaut. A teacher.

These are common things that kids will tell you about when they grow up.

But not Tom Scott, who answered, “Of course,” when asked about his childhood career path dream, “Emerging VP of Sales.” Fortunately, he stuck to his youthful goal and holds onto that title!

Living the Dream
In all seriousness, Tom has been a major asset to the team for many years. He started at our former sister company, Castleford, over six years ago as Brazil Phone Number List a Business Development Manager. At the time, he was travelling around Sydney, meeting with multiple potential prospects every day. Oh well, something happened by accident.

Before joining the team, Tom studied media, culture and society at Northumbria University in Newcastle, UK His education covered a variety of subjects that piqued his interest, such as media, sociology, politics and history, but wasn't exactly sure where he would end up afterward.

Tom then found himself working for small businesses for a small business that specialized in online reputation management and local SEO. He also started out as a business development manager and transitioned into a role managing his own team of salespeople. Here he started getting into the thick of digital marketing and SEO, and the rest is history.

When he's not wrapped up in content marketing, he lives a simple life: drinking cold beer, eating delicious food and enjoying good company. But for most people, he's deep in good sales strategies.

Life@Brafton.
The world of sales is something Tom has lived and breathed for the past decade. When the opportunity came to throw all things marketing and digital into the mix with fresh advice presented, he took full advantage. In addition to his personal knowledge in the industry, Tom loves fresh because he has the opportunity to continue his education through his peers and even his clients.

“I loved the fact that I got to interact with so many different types of clients and prospects from all walks of life and from all corners of the business world.”

As technology changes, Tom enjoys sitting down with clients and having conversations with business and marketing leaders about AI, machine learning, and the general application of technology across different industries.

“I love the fact that I interact with people from all walks of life and all walks of life in the business world.”

“I've gained incredible knowledge in this role,” he said. “The digital space waits for no one, there's always something new to learn or change to adapt. It's so important to stay on top of it, or you stay behind.”

When it comes to style, products, and services, Tom is a big fan of content that goes above and beyond to help clients stand out from the competition.

“I think interactive content is always very eye-catching and more engaging for users, and it helps you stand out from the pack. Also, mediums like social media, workshops, and even podcasts that make your brand more personal are great ways to build a stronger connection with your audience.”

“The digital space waits for no one, and there's always something new to learn or change to adapt.”

Skills Needed for Success
According to Tom, staying with the customer, rather than just zeroing in on personal success, is a necessity in the world of content marketing.

“ From my own experience, I feel like the most valuable skill you can acquire in sales is to be truly passionate about understanding your client's current situation and goals,” he says. “Only then will you really be able to demonstrate how your solution can actually benefit them!”

Being able to think on your feet and adapt quickly are two other necessary skills as different situations and personalities can shift conversations in the world of sales.

By honing these skills, Tom has seen major success with Brafton, which has only fueled his further personal and professional growth.

“Being responsible for revenue and growth means I'm always working towards achieving goals and targets, and there's always a sense of accomplishment when you or your team hits them together.”

But Tom isn't just proud of his own achievements. He's a huge believer in the old adage that "teamwork makes the dream work," and believes it's the key to a newbie's success:

“I like the fact that we practice what we preach at Brafton,” he said. “Our lead generation model is 100% inbound, which means we have — and we are — having trouble proving that our prescribed digital strategies and tactics are really working.”
