Yesterday afternoon, the Provincial Council of Cuenca hosted the presentation of the report on the implementation of climate measures in the hospitality sector of Cuenca, where 61 establishments in the province have participated within the #PorElClima Hospitality program, a project promoted by ECODES with the collaboration of Coca-Cola. Cola Iberia, the Cuenca Hospitality Group, as well as the municipalities of Cuenca and Tarancón together with the provincial institution.

This document provides very Outlook Email Lists interesting data such as that 97 percent of the premises have several water saving systems: place flow reducers on the faucets, and use double flushing in the toilets. It also states that all establishments collaborate in the reuse of glass containers. This reuse in many cases consists of the so-called glass return system.

98 percent of establishments have LED bulbs, that is, they save up to 90 percent of the electrical energy consumed compared to incandescent bulbs, with the same quality of light. 77 percent of establishments use products made with recycled materials. These products fulfill the same function as a non-recycled product and generate fewer CO2 emissions because most products and raw materials from recycled materials require less energy to obtain than those from the natural environment.

The event took place in the gardens of the Palace of the Provincial Council of Cuenca and Teo Dueñas, Communication Manager of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Iberia, was in charge of managing the interventions.

The deputy for the Environment, Rodrigo Molina, also participated, who highlighted that despite some deniers, it is a confirmation that changes are occurring in the climate with adverse meteorological phenomena such as the heavy rains suffered in Cuenca last week.

Public institutions and specifically the Cuenca Provincial Council are working on the implementation of policies that focus on energy efficiency or the circular economy. In fact, Molina has recalled the project of the Los Palancares Scientific and Technological Park that will be destined to promote companies that are committed to giving waste a second useful life. The mayor of Cuenca, Darío Dolz, has expressed himself in similar terms, highlighting the replacement of LED lights that the council is undertaking and which is allowing significant savings, while reducing electricity consumption.

In the previous intervention, Ana Mastral from the Ecology and Development Foundation (ECODES), considers that Climate Change must be tackled with concrete actions, but also with hope; At this point she has highlighted the water saving measures carried out by hoteliers in Cuenca capital, but also by those in other municipalities such as Arcas, El Provencio or Tarancón.

The secretary of the Cuenca Hospitality and Tourism Association, Diego López, Riánsares López, Councilor for Economic Promotion of the Tarancón City Council and José Antonio Camacho, Coca Cola Iberia communication manager, also participated in this event.
