On the rd and th of july the second meeting of the group of experts in consumer law ige took place in geneva switzerland. Promoted by unctad united nations conference on trade and development the meeting brought together representatives from hundreds of countries including government private sector civil society organizations and academics and had as its agenda the main topics of concern in the matter at a global level . Among the issues discussed the states' concern with digital consumption and the so-called hypervulnerability of some categories of consumers stood out.

In the field of digital consumption discussions ranged Germany Phone Number from traditional e-commerce to the digital platform economy or shared economy and to the internet of things highlighting the fact that the future of consumer law will necessarily involve the use of the web. In this sense the need for digital inclusion was mentioned which is important in making the internet accessible not only to the less favored classes of countries but also to groups of consumers who have greater personal difficulties in using it such as the elderly. . Therefore the need for official programs that enable elderly people to fully use devices and navigate safely was highlighted.



The representative of consumers international at the point also highlighted the imperative of ensuring full access to acceptable payment methods on the web as a necessary way of allowing inclusion and access. In numerous demonstrations the essentiality of protecting personal data in the context of a digital economy was highlighted especially considering the expectation that in the next three years it is expected to reach the number of approximately million objects connected to each other. Thus in addition to adequate regulation the challenge is to educate consumers to raise awareness and inform consumers about the level of risks involved in internet-mediated consumption with regard to the availability of their own data.
