Law 20/2022, of October 19, on Democratic Memory, approved on October 5 in the Senate plenary session, is already published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) and will come into force this Friday . Applications may be submitted until October 21, 2024 , with the possibility of extension for another year. Also known as the Grandchildren Law , it will allow you to apply for Spanish nationality in several cases. The first of them refers to those born outside the country of Spanish parents or grandparents who, as a consequence of having suffered exile for ideological reasons or reasons of belief, politics or sexual orientation, have lost or renounced their nationality.
