Thanks to them, we have made progress in our mission to end cruelty to animals. Get to know our main successes! When Animal Equality was founded in 2006 with the mission of protecting animals, we knew it was not going to be an easy task. We were facing big challenges and some of the most powerful industries in the world, but our enthusiasm and commitment to our mission has only grown since then and has allowed us to achieve impactful results for animals. Whether we work to educate the public about the horrible reality inside factory farms and slaughterhouses, call on governments to adopt laws that protect animals, or encourage major companies to implement policies that benefit animals, we have never lost sight of our mission. Thanks to this, we have achieved several victories for animals in the last 15 years.

Read on to see some of our top hits. 1. Harling Pig Ca Cell Numbers Farm Closure. – United Kingdom, 2012 An Animal Equality investigation into British pig farms results in the closure of the Harling farm and the prosecution of its workers for animal cruelty. They received the longest sentence ever handed down for mistreatment of animals on farms. 2. Closure of a dog slaughterhouse and 33 dog and cat markets closed. – China, 2013 Animal Equality investigations in China manage to dismantle a dog slaughterhouse, accused of illegally trading in this country with more than 1.5 million dogs and cats a year for their meat or fur. We also managed to close 33 dog and cat markets.

The world's largest religious sacrifice reduced the number of animals sacrificed. – India, 2014 Thanks to our tireless campaigns and collaborative efforts since 2014, the number of animals slaughtered at the Gadhimai Festival has been drastically reduced. A directive issued by India's Home Ministry following Animal Equality petitions helped reduce the number of animals slaughtered at the cruel festival by 80%. 4. National ban on the importation of foie gras. – India, 2014 India's Ministry of External Affairs approves nationwide ban on import of foie gras as a direct result of Animal Equality investigations. This achievement is part of the global campaign that Animal Equality began in July 2012 when it presented research on Spanish and French foie gras farms, whose impact and repercussion extended to several European countries.
